CREDIT ACTIVITIES
Credit Activities January – June 2002
The micro-credit activities, the core of the Poverty Alleviation Program, have been carried out as usual, both at CDAs level and SECDA level. During this period the credit released to the community with the Revolving fund reachedfund reached the number of 12.487 for an amount of 41.938.000 L.E. …..,
In
this period the credits of the Revolving Fund reached 711,925 116 units between
Giza and Minia. The total funds transferred to the 12 Community
Development Associations (CDAs) of
Giza reached the amount of 4.873729.500 .000 Egyptian Pound. Fund
transferrend
in Minia CDA are 1.560.000
L.E. for a total value of 6.289.500
L.E. Beneficiaries’ repayments allowed to more
than tripling quadruplicate the total credits disbursement that has reached almost
14 26 millions
of LE. Overall percentage of repayment was around 98%. In
April 2002 Minia established 4 new Revolving Fund in the CDAs of
Eshnien,
Ebshak, El-Mahrass and El-Biadia
reaching the
number of 10 active CDAs.During
the past year a new CDA, Medinet
Alomal has
been selected. After the agreement has been signed, the first transfer of funds
has been done in November and the normal work started.

In the CDA of Shorbaghy despite Despite several interventions of the authorities in the Governorate of Giza and the public prosecutor, the situation in Shorbaghy CDA has not improved. The Program has had transferred 296.000 L.E. and on in the CDA bank account for the Revolving Fund, however are deposited only 186,055.60 E.PLE are deposited the Aas appears in the annexed detailed report of MISA expert is annexed. Lately the former CDA chairman died. PAP has informed MISA in order to take legal steps to recover the money from the family.

As far as the Guarantee Fund is concerned, the Trust
Fund has reached its full capacity
the past semester. The
NGO in charge of the fund management reached the cash
sustainability and
is now able to cover the expenses by the revenue. The
financial sustainability is not yet achieved, because of increased number of bad
debt and lower repayment rate
and a consolidation of the bad debt is required. However
the capital
gained of
from the trust fund
can cover the deficit and replenish the debt.
The
financial institution selected by the Program (Credit Guarantee Company) will
pursue
keep has
the commitment to raise the outstanding credits for three times the
value of the funds itself.
At the end of the year period credit granted were 1110 1381 for a total amount of 12,606 16,223,000 million LE and repayments outreached 10 millionfor 6,7 million LE.

The
revolving loan is the major instrument of PAP to alleviate poverty, during this
reporting period, PAP continued providing both, financial and technical support
to the participant CDAs in Giza and Menia, and for SECDA as well.
Since
the project started, the total number of loans disbursed to the beneficiaries
reached 12.487 loans with a value of LE. 41.938.000.
Giza
Revolving Loan during January – June 2002:
During
this period, PAP transferred an amount of LE. 437,000 has been transferred 4
CDAs as follows:
1-
Shiakha
Rabaa CDA has received a total amount of LE. 75,000, in March, PAP disbursed LE.
24,000, another amount of LE. 25,000 has been disbursed
in May and finally an
amount of LE. 26,000 in June.
2-
Madinat Al Omal is the most recent selected CDA received a total amount
of LE. 244,000. In January PAP transferred an amount of LE. 37,000 and in
February, another transfer was made of LE. 57,000, in March, an amount of LE.
23,000, additional amounts were transferred in April, May and June as per LE.
20,000 and LE. 40,000 and LE. 50,000 respectively.

Abo Ragwan CDA received three transfers of LE. 37,000 and LE. 45,000 and LE. 16,000 in January, March and May respectively.

Ard Al Lewa CDA has received one transfer of LE. 20,000 in June.

total number of 1728 loans has been disbursed during this reporting semester,
177 loans were disbursed in each of
Omraneia Garbeia,
Dahshour and, Shaikha Rabaa CDAs, 131 loans in Ard Al Lewa, 109 in Abo Al
Nomros, 120 in Zenin, 191 in Mazghouna, 197 loans in El Saff, 100 in Desemey,
159 in Ahali Embaba, 70 loans only in Abo Ragwan and finally,
120 loans in Madinet
Al Omal.
The
